Glorious Knitwear

5th June 2013

The RCA fashion show was last week and as usual showcased some fantastic designers. Knitwear is always strong and this year did not disappoint.

Heewon Park's beautiful monochrome collection is at the same time minimal and maximal. Exploring knitwear and print her bulky knits are set off beautifully against delicate sheers with monochrome geometric repeats.

Also noted for her material explorations, was Xiao Li.

I first fell in love with her material and garment exploration at the work in progress show and her final collection did not disappoint.

Moving on from a gel like aesthetic her collection is a more muted and engaging evolution in shades of lilac, peach and mint green.

Also exploring volume her pieces are made from spacer mesh coated with silicone materials cast from her own knitted textile pieces. Deliciously tactile her collection is cleverly wearable yet innovative.
