Another Terra

4th May 2012

Taking inspiration from the finding of Kepler-22b, the IN Residence, Another Terra - Home away from home exhibition shown during Milan design week poses a time when we have to leave earth for another more hospitable planet.

A collective exhibition including the likes of Formafantasma, Minale-Maeda and Mischer'Traxler it showed their ideas on this new frontier in space travel.

Asked, "If you had to envisage life on some other habitable planet other than Earth, what kind of minimal hand luggage would you take with you?", the results consisted of a series of objects in wooden suitcases such as next life tool kits, glow in the dark eggs and a nature tool box from Minale-Maeda.

The most outstanding piece was a beautiful hand woven space quilt from Lanzavecchia + Wai studio. Highlighting the objects experienced in a normal day (on earth),strips of golden mylar have been hand stamped repeatedly with the names of the objects offering a glimpse at the mundane day to day life that may become revered with the changes of life on another planet.
