Tensioned Threads

25th February 2013

Yulia Kondranina's collection shown during London fashion week was by far one of the most striking. Since graduating from Central St Martins, she has continued with her signature of working with threads on tension in simple monochrome or block colours. Always exploring the relationship between a textile and a garment her pieces are somewhere between beautiful art pieces and garments.

Between Two Rivers

15th February 2013

I know that these have been endlessly blogged about, but I keep being drawn back to these beautiful vessels by Siba Sahabi so I decided as a friday treat I would also showcase them.

They remind me of a more sophisticated version of the coiled pots that I saw in DMY Berlin last year.

Titled ‘Between Two Rivers’ they are a collection of 10 felt vessels that have been made from coiled coloured felt that are then coated with paint.
The accompanying video is also very beautiful and celebrates the potters wheel and the delicacy of felt and the vessels.

Paper Swan

5th February 2013

Taking a more analogue approach in point of difference to the likes of Iris van Herpen, Latvian fashion design students Dana Jasinkevica and Dita Enikova have designed and made the this beautiful paper dress.

Where's Kithkin?

4th February 2013

Where are Kithkin?
last seen in 2010? They were an inspiring group of designers from Central St Martins who were already talking about downloadable design way before Droog - possibly ahead of the curve. Maybe its time they came back out of the woodwork...?

About

I use this blog as a notebook of inspirations – I post things I see and like and thoughts of mine. I don't revolve around a singular topic and neither does this blog. Everything and anything is relevant
